A man believed to be a Nigerian national died in a police van in Kempton Park on Saturday, with police accused of suffocating him, the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (Ipid) confirmed.
Police say the man overdosed on drugs he swallowed as he was arrested.
Several people have sustained minor injuries and two others sustained moderate to serious injuries according to Netcare.
